Clinical and Product Assurance (CaPA)
The Clinical and Product Assurance (CaPA) team of NHS Supply Chain are key to ensuring that all the products we supply are safe and reflect the needs and preferences of all our NHS partners.
As the face of health and social care across England changes at pace, underpinned by priorities set out within The NHS Long Term Plan (published January 2019), NHS Supply Chain must continually evolve to meet these changing needs. The CaPA team ensure that the end to end procurement process is widely informed by appropriate stakeholders, who reflect the broad range of knowledge and expertise within our health and social care system.
This includes working with our NHS partners such as NHS England, NHS Improvement and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to support the introduction of new technology and innovation into the supply chain that provides demonstrable benefits for our patients and users.
In addition, CaPA support the work of many national clinical programmes, which are developing strategies to improve patient care and reduce unwarranted variation across the health and social care system. Examples include the National Wound Care Strategy Programme (NWCSP) and the National Bladder and Bowel Health (NBBH) Project.
See our Useful Links section for more details on the national clinical programmes which CaPA support.
