NHS Supply Chain Live

23 January 2024 Birmingham

As we embed our new operating model, we shared our plans for the future with our customers, and how we are committed to working in partnership with our NHS partners in a collaborative and transparent way.

Our first Customer Live Meeting was held on 23 January in Birmingham, enabled key leaders across both ICS and NHS Supply Chain to come together to discuss the ways we will help our NHS partners to put patients first.

The session provided insight into how we will help support improved supply chain management practices, driving value across the system, beyond savings alone. We covered our plans to make it easier for healthcare providers to work with us, enabling additional efficiencies through our interactions.

The NHS procurement and supply chain community does a fantastic job in supporting care whilst ensuring value for money for the taxpayer – collectively we know we can do more in the future. Working together is the only way to remove the barriers and obstacles in our way

The first meeting was designed for key ICS Leads to understand our future commercial strategy and the impact those enhancements will have on our care providers. This included exploring our approach to support resilience, sustainability and innovation via our category management plans. We also detailed how we will engage differently across the system going forward, making it easier for the voice of the customer to be understood and embedded ensuring it is at the heart of everything we do.

Theme based breakout discussions led by Category Directors, included:

  • Future ICS Engagement
  • Future Category Management
  • Value Based Procurement

As a Procurement and Supplies team, our customers are the same as yours – the patients. I believe that by working with NHS Supply Chain, as an extension of our team, we can provide the best possible service.

Mick Corti, Procurement Director, North Central London

The Customer Live Session in January marked the start of a program of sessions providing opportunities to discuss our future strategy with you, taking your feedback to build into our future plans.
